Charlevoix, where I grew up, has a wonderful summer season with a lot of water activities. I grew up fishing with my father and cousins on Lake Michigan and Lake Charlevoix for chinook salmon, rainbow trout, brown trout, lake trout, walleye, northern pike, and perch.

Graduate school was bad for my fishing time. Once I moved to Berkeley, I made a few crabbing buddies for the dungeness crab season. We did pretty well!
